March 23, 2020 – The situation with the novel coronoavirus, COVID-19, continues to evolve rapidly. Governors in several states have issued orders closing all businesses that are not essential or life sustaining.
Our team has analyzed each of the orders issued in states where McCarthy Tire Service operates. These orders include a list of essential business that may remain open. McCarthy Tire falls under these exemptions. We will continue to monitor orders as they are issued.
+ McCarthy Tire Service’s operations are considered essential and life-sustaining. In states that have ordered shutdowns, we are authorized to continue serving our customers. Our associates are authorized to travel to and from work, and to carry out essential functions for our customers.
+ ALL OF OUR LOCATIONS ARE OPEN, AND WE ARE HANDLING ROAD CALLS 24/7. As a vital part of our nation’s supply chain, we –
o Retread tires for shipping fleets so they can deliver baby formula, produce, and toilet paper to neighborhood stores.
o Inspect cars and vans and SUVs so health care professionals can drive safely to their hospitals and clinics.
o Repair tires for waste trucks so they can collect trash and recycling materials.
o Fix truck tires on the side of the highway so drivers can drop off raw materials for masks, gowns, and ventilators at manufacturing plants.
o Ensure that fire trucks, ambulances, and Red Cross vehicles are good to go at a moment’s notice.
+ The health of our associates, customers, suppliers, and their families is our top priority. McCarthy Tire’s owners, senior leaders, safety director, and human resources team are meeting daily to monitor the evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
+ We have reduced the number of associates in each location. Some associates are working remotely, while those in non-essential areas have been furloughed.
+ We have implemented COVID-19 protocols in our stores, shops, trucks, retread plants, and with our customers’ vehicles. This includes social distancing, increased hand washing and use of sanitizer, the use of gloves, and a thorough disinfecting protocol of all hard surfaces several times a day.
These are very difficult times. However, McCarthy Tire Service is a strong, resourceful company. We have overcome many challenges since Joseph J. McCarthy founded the company in 1926. Working together, we will all come through this and be back to full operations as soon as possible.
