JULY 9, 2014 – McCarthy Tire Service is proud to announce that the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce honored Katie McCarthy Lambert with the ATHENA Award at its annual awards luncheon.
Lambert and her two siblings, John D. McCarthy Jr. and Mary Ellen Horn McCarthy, are third-generation owners of their family’s business, McCarthy Tire Service. Lambert is the company’s chief financial officer. She also serves as a board member and volunteer for a number of area nonprofits and community organizations.
The prestigious ATHENA award recognize someone who demonstrates professional excellence, who is dedicated to community service, and who actively assists women in attaining their full professional and leadership potential. This is the 29thyear for the award.
Lambert’s mother, CeCe McCarthy said she knew when her daughter was three years old that she would do well.
“She always was very friendly,” McCarthy said. “She always liked people, and we figured she would turn out this way. We knew she was going places.”
Lambert said her father, Jack McCarthy, always told her and her siblings, “Anyone can look good on paper. Now let’s see what you can do.”
“My parents pushed me to succeed in business and to help the community,” said Lambert. At the luncheon, she encouraged the attendees to “give back to your community.”
