April 3, 2020 – McCarthy Tire Service is proud of the work that our team is doing on the front lines to keep America rolling. We provide an essential public service for the transportation industry.
Our fleet services keep the national supply chain on the move. Our automotive centers are servicing vehicles for first responders, fire departments, medical personnel and other essential workers. Our heavy truck mechanical departments ensure that grocery store trucks are in top condition, and our off-the-road unit helps construction crews maintain our country’s infrastructure.
McCarthy Tire’s dedicated, hard-working, and committed associates make it all happen. Since the beginning of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, our overriding concern has been the health and safety of our associates, customers, and their families.
As soon as the crisis started, we implemented an array of preventive measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These procedures are followed in every one of our 60+ service centers, 10 retread manufacturing plants and warehouses, as well as our corporate office. They are now our new normal.
SOCIAL DISTANCING
Social distancing is an important part of our strategy.
- We encourage any associate who feels ill to stay home and immediately begin self-quarantining. Now is not the time to “tough it out.” This policy is to protect their family, their fellow associates, and our customers.
- Many of our associates, and all of our managers, are set up to work remotely. This ensures that our company and customers will have minimal disruption in the event of a major weather event or power outage. In March, we pro-actively moved as many associates as possible to remote work. This included members of our accounting, payroll, human resources, legal, marketing, purchasing, and sales departments.
- All travel and in-person meetings have been eliminated. Visitors and vendors are restricted from entering our facilities.
- We reduced the hours of operation for all locations, and we adjusted production schedules and staffing.
- We limit the number of people allowed in a room at any given time, which means our associates’ breaks and lunch times are now at staggered intervals.
- We have improved our customer service areas with Plexiglass dividers, six-foot spacings on the floor, and a reduced number of people in the waiting area at any given time.
GOOD HYGIENE PRINCIPLES
- We have added multiple hand sanitizer stations throughout our facilities.
- All of our associates wear gloves, and we promote frequent and thorough hand washing.
- We have implemented procedures for rigorous cleaning and disinfection of all hard surfaces multiple times a day, including the high-touch areas in our stores – restrooms, counter tops, doors and door handles, waiting areas, etc.
- Our technicians and mechanics are using thorough disinfecting procedures to wipe down the door handles, steering wheels, dashboards, and the cabs/interior of our customers’ vehicles after service. Road call and onsite technicians clean and sanitize their service vehicles throughout the day.
McCarthy Tire continues to closely monitor the evolving situation and adjust our operations, policies, and procedures based on recommendations from the CDC (https://www.coronavirus.gov) and directives from state officials.
