September 12, 2019 – McCarthy Tire Service announces that Russell Devens, the company’s director of safety and risk management, has been elected to the board of directors of the Tire Industry Association (TIA). The position is a three-year term.
TIA is an international non-profit association with more than 10,000 members in all segments of the tire industry. It promotes safety through tire service training and resources, acts as the industry’s principal advocate in government affairs, and supports the growth and success of its member businesses. Russ is one of five members recently elected to the 18-member board by the TIA membership. The new directors will begin their terms at the organization’s annual membership meeting in November in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Russ is absolutely committed to safety, both at McCarthy Tire and for the entire tire industry,” notes John D. McCarthy Jr., president of McCarthy Tire Service. “He has been a strong voice for implementing best practices that reduce risk and keep our people out of harm’s way. We are very pleased that Russ won this seat; he will be an asset to the TIA board.”
In his role at McCarthy Tire Service, one he has held for five years, Russ handles ongoing training, evaluations of workplace safety, emergency response, hazardous materials management, and facility security for more than 70 service locations and retread manufacturing plants in nine states. Under Russ’ leadership, McCarthy Tire Service recently spearheaded the first-ever Safety Leadership Summit in Newton, North Carolina, in conjunction with Snider Fleet Solutions. The event gathered 14 of the top 25 independent commercial tire dealers in the United States to discuss tire safety, workplace injuries, and fleet safety.
Russ has more than 30 years of experience in safety, law enforcement, security, insurance, and risk management.
