Getting excited about your summer road trips? Seasonal changes impact more than just your hobbies and how you spend the weekend. Your vehicle performance and your safety are also key to maximizing your driving experience – especially if you’re relying on it for this summer’s vacation! Check it out – 6 tips to get your ride in tip top shape and summer, road trip ready.
- Check tires and tire pressure: Check the tires for wear and tear, and make sure the air pressure is correct. You can find the correct tire pressure in your owner’s manual. Need help? Bring it into one of our tire shops to take a look. This is the #1 tip because low tire pressure and worn treads impact both safety and performance.
- Listen to and feel the brakes: Check the brakes for any unusual noises or vibrations. If you notice anything wrong, have your brakes checked by a mechanic.
- Secure and test the battery: Check the battery cables for any damage, and make sure the battery is secure in its case. You can have the battery tested by a mechanic to make sure it is still in good condition.
- Top off engine oil and other fluids: Check the engine oil, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid levels. If any of these fluids are low, add more. You can find the correct fluid levels in your owner’s manual.
- Replace wiper blades and replenish windshield cleaner: Replace the wiper blades if they are worn or damaged. You should also replenish the windshield cleaner if it is running low.
- Pack an emergency kit: Pack an emergency kit in your car in case of a breakdown. The kit should include items such as a flashlight, first-aid kit, jumper cables, and a tire pressure gauge.
By following these tips, you can help ensure that your vehicle is ready for summer driving and that you’ll have a safe and enjoyable journey.
